Belief in God is not enough, you need to know.

What led you to your belief in God? No matter how you arrived at your current belief in your head, it is insufficient. You need to know. And the only way to really know is through real world experience.

The story of Abraham's servant in finding a wife for his masters son Isaac is a good example of validating ones knowledge and belief that "God answers prayers" with actual real world experience. In the story Abraham commands his servant to go to his home country to find a wife for his son Isaac. When the servant arrives at the home town of his master, the servant stationed beside a well and prayed “O God, God of my master Abraham, make things go smoothly this day; treat my master Abraham well! As I stand here by the spring while the young women of the town come out to get water, let the girl to whom I say, ‘Lower your jug and give me a drink,’ and who answers, ‘Drink, and let me also water your camels’—let her be the woman you have picked out for your servant Isaac. Then I’ll know that you’re working graciously behind the scenes for my master.” The story goes that just before the servant even finishes his prayer that a young beautiful girl comes by to draw water from the well. As the young girl lowers her jug down the well, Abraham's servant approaches and ask her exactly what he prayed to God about to validate whether or not this girl was the one. As the story continues the young girl fulfills every requirement that his master Abraham desired and responded exactly the way the servant asked God for. The young girl eventually agrees to go along with Abraham's servant and become the wife of Abraham's son, Isaac.

By requesting God to give a specific signal to validate a specific desired result in the real world, than actively looking for that signal and eventually witnessing it, the servant moved from simple head belief about God to really know God in his heart of hearts. Abrahams servants approach in validating ones head knowledge through practical experience is a example we all need to learn from. As belief not validated through personal experience especially of the spiritual and theoretical nature won't sustain us when we're going through a crisis or when we're under immense temptation. God knows this and has offered us a way to really know him by saying in the book of Jeremiah "you will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you".

God vs Money

We live in a world currently where for most people, money is God whether or not they like to admit it. Secularism and consumerism has grown to such a extent that the pursuit of wealth and material success has become the center of people's lives. Many for the sake of accumulating money have put aside their ethics and compromised their moral values, demonstrating their idolization of money.  Conversely, many no longer place much value in organized religion and spirituality . Some Church's have been vandalized and burnt down. Attendance has declined drastically, and religious institutions hold ever lesser sway over public discourse and personal beliefs. Mans struggle throughout ones life and history has been between whether one serves either God or money. This existential conflict encapsulates the fundamental question of where one's allegiance lies: with spiritual values or material pursuits. Choosing to serve God entails prioritizing principles of faith, morality, and compas...

How parents fail their kids today

Parenting is failing these days. A lot of the kids you meet these days are inconsiderate, arrogant, rude, self-righteous and entitled. There's a saying "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." Compared to most of modern history we have been in a period of relatively good times for a very long time, so much so that now we have a lot of immature adults breeding even weaker minded and emotional children. Here are some of the ways parents today are failing their kids. Number 1, not teaching kids how to protect themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. The greatest threat to kids these days aren't from physical threats, but from online threats. The use of social media has proliferated and children interactions with other people through them is ever increasing. The increasing use of social media has been linked to increase in mental health issues and emotional manipulation. Most parents ...

3 Policies That Would Solve Climate Change

There are three reasonable policies that can address the climate crisis. It is that simple, yet it will be extremely difficult because of the key players needed to enact these three policies. The players are the 20 biggest nations in the world, otherwise known as the G20. The G20 According to the OECD , the G20 nations are responsible for emitting close to 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This means the G20 countries together are 80% responsible for climate change as we know greenhouse gases are the main drivers of increasing global temperatures . If the G20 can bring down its emissions and achieve net-zero by 2050 , then the rest of the world will follow as a result of the G20’s influence on the global economy, and we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change. If you follow politics you know it’s very difficult for governments at any level to agree and enact new policies, let alone with other countries. Mixed with the fact that climate change has become such a polarising g...
