Gods Heart

Obeying Gods commandments is hard-obviously.

Why did God give out such hard commandments to humans ? Why couldn't he give commandments that are easy to keep? Or wire us in a way that we would easily keep them?

God wants human beings to strive to a higher state of being closer to his own - whether that be spiritually, emotionally, or relationally and this is best accomplished by giving out commandments. The struggle that comes along in trying to follow a commandment consistently spurs personal growth and maturity.

God is not looking for perfect people. However, he is looking for people that have a honest humble heart that wants to follow his commandments because he knows by doing so we grow and that is ultimately what God is looking for.

Why does God wants us to strive and grow? God wants us to be people that strives because that is who he is. As described in scripture God constantly strives to be patient with his chosen people, the Israelites. No matter how many times the Israelites disappointed God, from complaining constantly about not having food to eat in the desert after God freed them from Egypt to worshiping a golden calf, God constantly held back his wrath and strived to be patient-embodying long-suffering for the sake of the Israelites.

Ok, but why didn't God just create humans to be perfect in the first place just as he is perfect?

God is a being that takes pleasure in the journey of our growth, discovery and transformation towards godliness. Essentially he values the journey, not the destination. If you observe creation, all living things undergo a journey of transformation over time. Us humans, our stories, our arts, our entertainment, our economy, our civilization, our history - literally everything is a journey. And it is on this journey that God hopes each of us at some point choose obedience and pursue him- the way, the truth and the life.

God vs Money

We live in a world currently where for most people, money is God whether or not they like to admit it. Secularism and consumerism has grown to such a extent that the pursuit of wealth and material success has become the center of people's lives. Many for the sake of accumulating money have put aside their ethics and compromised their moral values, demonstrating their idolization of money.  Conversely, many no longer place much value in organized religion and spirituality . Some Church's have been vandalized and burnt down. Attendance has declined drastically, and religious institutions hold ever lesser sway over public discourse and personal beliefs. Mans struggle throughout ones life and history has been between whether one serves either God or money. This existential conflict encapsulates the fundamental question of where one's allegiance lies: with spiritual values or material pursuits. Choosing to serve God entails prioritizing principles of faith, morality, and compas...

How parents fail their kids today

Parenting is failing these days. A lot of the kids you meet these days are inconsiderate, arrogant, rude, self-righteous and entitled. There's a saying "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." Compared to most of modern history we have been in a period of relatively good times for a very long time, so much so that now we have a lot of immature adults breeding even weaker minded and emotional children. Here are some of the ways parents today are failing their kids. Number 1, not teaching kids how to protect themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. The greatest threat to kids these days aren't from physical threats, but from online threats. The use of social media has proliferated and children interactions with other people through them is ever increasing. The increasing use of social media has been linked to increase in mental health issues and emotional manipulation. Most parents ...

3 Policies That Would Solve Climate Change

There are three reasonable policies that can address the climate crisis. It is that simple, yet it will be extremely difficult because of the key players needed to enact these three policies. The players are the 20 biggest nations in the world, otherwise known as the G20. The G20 According to the OECD , the G20 nations are responsible for emitting close to 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This means the G20 countries together are 80% responsible for climate change as we know greenhouse gases are the main drivers of increasing global temperatures . If the G20 can bring down its emissions and achieve net-zero by 2050 , then the rest of the world will follow as a result of the G20’s influence on the global economy, and we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change. If you follow politics you know it’s very difficult for governments at any level to agree and enact new policies, let alone with other countries. Mixed with the fact that climate change has become such a polarising g...
