We face a woke epidemic today. There's a large group of the population who think they are morally superior to the general population, who think they are social warriors fighting corrupt establishments that are propagating climate change, racism, and minimizing human rights. Some have gone to such extremes as set themselves on fire as a protest for their cause.
Due to the duality of human nature, there will always be injustices in this world. Climate change is real and racism does exist. However, it is not something that can be solved through complaining, advocating extreme ideologies and policies that would literally cease modern society from functioning.
These public issues are also not ones that can be resolved by simply overthrowing any specific establishment or group of people. All of us have our hands dirty and have contributed to these issues whether you are aware of it or not even if indirectly. Therefore we shouldn't be pointing fingers, but seeking to really understand each other and work together to address these issues.
Let's face it, we all enjoy our modern lifestyle and the convenience it brings. If you enjoy the convenience of having electricity available to run your computer or riding a car or plane you likely contributed to climate change. If you enjoy the affordable Nike sneakers you wear on your feet you likely contributed to indirectly supporting sweatshops.
None of us are morally superior compared to another person, no matter how it may seem externally. Every single one of us have our own deficiencies and skeletons. The truth is I am just a pile of dust and so are you. Did that hurt your ego reading that? It did to me a bit writing that, but it's the hard truth nonetheless. God says "dust you are and to dust, you will return". That goes for every human being. When a person dies and is cremated they become dust essentially.
No matter how morally good we think we are compared to others the reality is that you and I are essentially the same. Flawed and imperfect human beings who are just piles of dust here on earth for a short while. If you are an agnostic or an atheist this likely sounds terrifying. However, I am telling you that God's actually real and not just a religious thing. I made a bargain with God and sought him wholeheartedly for one year and by the end of the year, he kept his side of the deal.
When the reality of God becomes apparent to you and you understand what he is really like, such as his personality and character, fear dissipates. It becomes easier to accept the truth of one's mortality and of just being a pile of dust. Your self-esteem and confidence do not get obliterated; instead, joy overflows from within from genuinely knowing that God cares deeply about you and me despite being just a pile of dust.
We are called to be peacemakers who bridge divisions not create them. We are called to contribute to bringing progress in manifesting the kingdom of heaven down here on earth, not strive towards what we deem to be good for society and ourselves. Don't simply just listen to the folks in the media, or any preacher or religious leader, who is just a pile of dust like you and me, and develop an opinion. Seek God for yourself, read and experiment in applying what the bible says for yourself and see if God does what he says. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
